Raindrops: slightly bigger ones do hurt. The lower the cloud cover the more likely they could hurt.
My understanding is that the when the raindrops speed increases too much it splits up further. Thus the size goes on reducing and the pressure when it lands is reduced.
Coming back to the penny. The penny is solid and all force is transmitted directly.
a penny dropped from the empire state building will not kill you, it reaches a terminal velocity of 100-120 mph depending on how its falling, however it will hurt. This is because it has more inertia, which means its a bit harder to speed up or slow down, so it hits you harder with more punch. A raindrop on the other hand doesn’t weigh as much, and has less inertia, or “torque” when it is falling than a penny and we dont feel the effects as much. Hope that helped
The main thing about Rain is that….the drops that fall on us isn’t what is formed up above….A huge bulk of water id formed and due to the wind it get’s dispersed….So i guess that’s y it dusn’t hurt.
There’s a very obvious answer to this. Pennies are made of solid metal and rain drops are made of liquid water. Metals are hard, so when a penny hits you at a high speed, it can break skin, shatter bones, etc. However, it a drop of liquid water hits you at high speed, it just breaks up into lots of smaller droplets. Note: On the other hand, if the solid water (ice) hits you, it will hurt.
So, the main reason why rain drops hurt less than pennies is not because they weigh less, but because they’re liquid. Ice weighs as much as water does and hurts much more when it hits you.
the raindrops does not get momentum.
momentum= mass (x) velocity
1)a penny has more mass than a raindrop.so it has greater momentum
2)the density of penny is more than that of raindrop
3)air resistance slows down the velocity of raindrop. so less mass and less velocity, so it will have less momentum.
The raindrops might hurt, but we have no way to ask them.

The reason why it doesnt hurt is that 1. they dont weight that much and 2. they dont go that fast.
When objects fall to earth they do not accelerate indefinately. Depending on there shape and composition objects falling will at some point reach a critical velocity in which the air resistance pushing up against them and the gravity pulling them down are balanced and they will cease to accelerate. This is why raindrops dont travel that fast and thus why they dont hurt
O and by the way a penny would not kill you. They proved that one on Myth Busters. It’s critical velocity is too low to be able to kill you
