Please recommend me a place to stay in NEw York
I’d like it to be near the attractions like manhattan Empire state building etc…
if it’s possible in a safe neighborhood where I won’t be scared all the time!!
i’m going with my girlfriend so if it’s possible i’d lke a cheap hostel that we can have a private room instead of a dorm where 6 or more people sleep together…

i stayed in the upper west side jazz on the park. it sucked, worst hostel i’ve ever been in. The rooms were average but the employees were *****.
There are a couple good hostels in the Chelsea area, which is the yuppie gay area (and quite safe).
I’d suggest going to http://www.yelp.com and doing a search for “hostel” to give you some ideas.
Most of manhatten is safe these days, so I wouldn’t be too worried.
Check out the website jazzonthepark.com – they have several hostels throughout the city depending on where you would like to base yourselves and they have private rooms available as well. My husband stayed there awhile back on a trip, and he recommends the hostel to everyone. Have fun!
Try the Chelsea star hostel (that what Madonna did when she moved to NYC)
They have interesting rooms painted in different themes, real cool place.
Go to Twizi to see the map of hostels in Manhattan (they list all the hostels in NYC)
the YMCA is affordable…many college students stay there.
You might want to check out http://www.tripadvisor.com to get guest reviews from hotels and hostels. I’ve found the reviews to be very frank and helpful.
I often stay at the Paramount Hotel – it’s a very hip and cozy hotel in midtown (It’s around 180 per night – which is cheap for NYC).
