Four Days In New York-what Would You Recommend We See?
Hi there,
My hubby and I have just booked to go to New York this May for four nights. We are staying in a hotel called ThirtyThirty very near the Empire State Building. I’ve never been to New York before and so would love people’s advice on what my hubby and I should prioritise to see whilst we’re there. We have already booked a one day open-top bus tour which I think includes a boat trip to see the Statue of Liberty and we’ve booked a Sex and The City Tour, which I’m really exceited about! I’d personally like to fit some shopping into the experience too but we don’t want to overwhelm ourselves by fitting too much in. What would you recommend we see? And, how much of the city can you realistically see in four days??? Many thanks in advance x
Its New York whats there not to see??
Depends on where your tastes are the shopping is great if you want a whole day then would rec a day trip to an outlet village north of NYC called Woodbury Common – you can get day trips leaving from the Port Bus Station. If you just want to shop in Manhattan then defo go the Macey’s on 34th St.
NY also has fantastic Museums : the 2 best are the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the American History Museum.
if you are into TV then the NBC Tour is great.
Try to spend a day in lower Manhattan. Have a meal in Little Italy. Soho and the Village have great boutiques and unique stores. The South Street Seaport is great to visit in May because the weather is milder. Shopping in the Union Square area along 5th Avenue is great as well. If you like Jazz The Blue Note is a great place to hear live music in the West Village.
Best is to break down the area you want to visit.
For example Times Square
Go to Times Square then you could easily walk over to Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, Grand Central Station, Carnegie’s Deli, The Ed Sullivan Theater where they film David Letterman, back to Times Square to see the TV studios and feel the energy of the area. Then see a Broadway show.
Second day Greenwich Village
Third Day 57th Street, Central Park and Lincoln Center
times square a must use the subway it,s cheap & easy to use go & see ground zero & there is a great shop there centuary 21 lots of bargains do take the bike ride round central park it is surprising how much you will fit in in 4 days enjoy
I second the suggestions above. Also, don’t forget that NYC has some of the best places to see live music in the country…check out some little bars/clubs one night and see if you can catch a great act. The Village Voice would be a good resource for this.
The link below can help u. Good luck!
A Broadway play
Ground Zero
Ellis Island
Empire State Building
Central Park
My brother and sister in law always go to the Rockefeller centre. Try NY State Library (think Ghostbusters) and Wall Street.
Fifth Ave too!
Empire State Building
Top of the Rock (Amazing view, one of the best, if not arguably THE best in the entire city)http://www.topoftherocknyc.com/
Natural History Museum.
The Museum of Modern Art.
Central Park.
Madison Square Garden.
Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum (my personal favorite!)
Broadway! Go see a show!
Go shopping on Madison. The best!
Times Square at night.
NBC Studio Tour.
Plus the Sex and the City Tour is supposed to be lots of fun! I’m sure you’ll love it. Enjoy your stay here in the city
I used to live in New York and the thing i miss most is going to Brooklyn and looking across the river onto Manhattan at night, it is beautiful. It is like all the city scape pictures of New York but better. If you are going with your husband it would be very romantic to go to Brooklyn Heights and have dinner and then walking down to the promenade to look at the city. This doesn’t need to take the whole night but i guarantee you that you will always remember the view.
If you like to shop you should try Macy’s on 34th st. You could spend the whole four days in there if you wanted to because it is so big.
You can do a lot in four days but i suggest doing at least one or two random non tourist things if that makes sense. Ask someone on the street there favorite place to eat and go there or just plan a few hours to walk around and see what you find.
I hope you have a great time!!!
